About this programme
Your Future Needs Your Participation
Your early twenties bring possibilities, expectations and decisions that can shape the years ahead. You may be studying, looking for work, starting a business, earning an income or still trying to find your direction. Alongside these opportunities come questions about independence, money, relationships, responsibility and the kind of man you want to become. You do not need to have everything figured out. But this is a valuable time to examine your choices, strengthen your habits and take an active role in building your future.
The Young Men’s Mentorship Camp is a three-day residential experience for men aged 20–24, held at Foundation House in Northmead, Lusaka. It offers time to step back, think clearly and engage with mentors and fellow young men about the realities of adulthood. Through coaching, guided conversations, career talks, enterprise activities, reflection, teamwork and creativity, participants will explore how to move forward with greater responsibility, confidence and purpose.
Honest Conversations About Where You Are
Adulthood does not follow one timetable. Some young men are already supporting themselves or their families. Others are navigating uncertainty, setbacks or pressure to succeed. Wherever you are, understanding your circumstances and taking responsibility for your next steps matters. These conversations encourage honest reflection, practical thinking and a willingness to learn.
The camp creates opportunities to explore questions such as:
What does taking ownership of your life look like in your circumstances?
Are your daily habits helping you move towards your goals?
How can you respond constructively to pressure, disappointment and uncertainty?
What strengths can you develop into useful skills?
How do you make thoughtful decisions about work, money and relationships?
What can you begin doing with the resources and opportunities available to you?
Character You Can Put into Practice
Character shows in how you work, keep commitments, handle disagreements and treat people. It also shows in what you do when nobody is reminding you. Participants will explore integrity, discipline, accountability, emotional maturity and gentlemanly conduct through everyday situations. The focus is on applying these values: keeping your word, respecting boundaries, managing your reactions, accepting feedback and taking responsibility when you get something wrong. Personal leadership also means recognising when you need guidance and having the confidence to seek it.
From Ambition to Practical Direction
Wanting a better future is a starting point. Building one requires choices, effort and a workable plan. Career conversations and practical activities will help participants consider their interests, strengths, skills and possible pathways. The programme will also introduce entrepreneurial thinking, encouraging young men to recognise needs, solve problems and explore how they can create value.
Discussions on financial responsibility will address everyday decisions about earning, spending, priorities and planning. Participants will be encouraged to identify realistic steps suited to their circumstances, whether they are studying, seeking employment, working or exploring a business idea.
Relationships, Respect and Responsibility
The way you relate to others affects your personal life, your work and your community. Listening, communicating clearly, respecting boundaries and handling disagreement are skills worth developing. The camp will explore healthy friendships, respectful relationships, peer influence and the responsibilities that come with adulthood. Participants will reflect on how to support others while making thoughtful choices for themselves.
Learn Together. Participate Fully.
Team challenges, creative activities and shared recreation bring opportunities to connect, contribute and practise communication, initiative and cooperation. Mentorship runs throughout the experience, with space to ask questions, exchange perspectives and learn from the experiences of others.
Leave with Your Next Steps
Three days can provide a valuable opportunity to pause, reflect and plan. Participants will be guided to develop a personal action plan with priorities and commitments they can continue working on after the camp. Come ready to engage honestly, consider new possibilities and take your growth seriously.
Own your choices. Strengthen your character. Give your future a practical direction.
